In his second year at the front man for the WAFL, Daniel brought his style of rapid fire irreverence to the show, and kept it flowing. Daniel is a Los Angeles-stand-up comic and marketing executive, occupations which he tries to practice separately if he can help himself.
Reaching deep into sub-conscientious labyrinth of human psyche and channeling the aesthetics of Dario Argento viewed thru the prism of color symbolism but elevating it to the primary mission of telling the cinematic story focusing on how the ordinary everyday’ s objects in life , high heel and the button, can become quintessential symbols of the universal existence, the film that embodied all this in 90 seconds story in this jury’s unanimous decision is.... BUTTONS!
Sulejman "Suki" Medenčević is the president of the WAFL 2021 Jury and an original supporter and advisor the WAFL Festival. He is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers. He is an internationally recognized Bosnian cinematographer and producer, winner of Best Cinematography Award at 2005 Valencia Festival of Mediterranean Cinema.
Nicholas Charles Castle is an established American screenwriter, film director and actor. Castle co-wrote Escape from New York with John Carpenter, among many other film credits. He is also known for playing Michael Myers in Carpenter's horror film Halloween.
Tarina Pouncy is an American film and stage actor and producer with a long list of credits to her name. She is the recipient of the 2012 NAACP Theatre Award and of the 2018 Stage Raw Theatre Award.
Elliot Hartley joined the main judges in the selection this year's 9 finalists. He is the 2020 WAFL Festival Winner, and a Sound Supervisor and Dialog Editor and ADR mixer at IMN Creative. As last year's WAFL winner, he selected the two themes for this year's festival: Button and High Heel.
The WAFL Festival wishes to thank its volunteers this year, including Mike Bahr, Bowen Moreno, Griffin Saunders, Loren Nielsen, the stellar judging team, as well as the festival's founder, producer, and enthusiastic filmmaking competitor, Philippe Hartley.
